The much heralded cuts in public spending faced by Scotland are unprecedented and the likely effects far-reaching. New analysis of the UK Government’s Emergency Budget puts the cumulative reduction at £42bn. According to the Fraser of Allander Institute, it could result in the loss of 126,000 jobs in Scotland over the next five years, 90,000 of them in the public sector. Read more... |
